Another snob
Okay, it just gets better.Another kid. I don't know why i forgot to mention her last time I complained about the snobs in college, or the time before that, but whatever.
I have known this kid for about 12 years. No joke. We daven in the same shul. We were never friends. Actually, the one time we played together at another kid's house, we were like 7, and she threw something at me.
But, I know her.
So I try to be friendly.
Every time I see her, I greet her.
By name.
I wave, smile (now only 1/2) and say, "Hi [insert lovely young woman's name here]"
She knows exactly who I am.
She nods.
Barely acknowledges me.
I mean, if she's still mad at me, she should get over it. I'm not an idiot. I know we may never be friends, but to say, "hi"--wouldn't do her any damage.
But whatever.

I sometimes get very confused when I read your blogs. On the one hand you have started using words like B"H, IY"H, and Yirat Shamayim but then you start referring to types of people with words such as “bitch”, “slut”, and “whores” and let me not forget one of your favorite words: “butt(s)”. Try to be a little more consistent. You can make your point without using such strong language (?), especially when you are referring to other Jews. If you disagree, please let me know.
Okay, here's the story.
I believe you got to this post before i finished it. I was in school, and this guy from my class came over to talk to me, and i was joking around. So i absent-mindedly typed in "bitch," and ended my post cuz i was gonna be late to class. It was actually on my mind all day, to come back and correct it (and finish the post).
But as for the other language I use, that's the beauty of ME. I think that kinda shows that I'm not a complete yeshivish freak, but I am not a total bum, either. Which is an interesting situation, as I have written about in my experiences in high school, and other aspects of life.
Am I saying it's right to use those words? Absolutely not. I just know that if you would see the way these people dress, you would also be at a loss for words other than those.
However, if it is important to you that I stop, I will Bli Neder (there I go again) make an effort to cut back, and hopefully stop. Ok?

I was the one that made the original comment so I appreciate you responding. Let me start off by saying that I do appreciate your honesty and forwardness and I believe you when you say that you didn’t finish with you’re post.
A lot of people would have become very defensive by my original comment, so it shows something about your personality that you accept criticism. Everyone should always try and improve themselves. I think your intentions are very good in writing about all of this stuff on your blog, so I wasn’t trying to discourage you from that. I’m not asking you to pretend to be someone you’re not if that’s how you actually speak. However, I think it is very nice that you add in Jewish words as well because I think it shows your level of Yirat Hashem. It’s obviously a big part of your life.
BTW, Having said all that, I don’t blame you for feeling angry at people that you know that don’t at least give you the common courtesy of giving you a decent greeting . Just know that you are not alone in that area.

You're an excellent writer, and you have a lot of really important points to make. Like anonymous, though, I'm confused. There are so many posts of garbage out there in the Blogdom that we call our own, as well as so much anger and frustration. Now, I'm not saying that there's no room for that in a blog; in fact, I use my blog as a pillow to be thrown against the wall (figuratively) when I'm frustrated as well. But it seems that you have so much GOOD to say, so many good points to drive home, and this language thing...well, it does kind of put a damper on the good frum ideas that you have here. I would love to link a blog like this to my site, but I just refuse to link anything that has language or other issues...and it's such a shame that I can't help you to share all this with the wider bloggersphere.
I'm commenting, of course, in response to your most recent post. I understand that you're upset. But I learned recently--in a COLLEGE class, nonetheless (I'm an English Communications major)--that overuse of strong language is often a crutch that amateur writers use in order to avoid cranking out good, solid prose. And I think that you can do better than that, and that it would really make for an excellent frum blog.
Just a thought. You're welcome to jump down my back, throw rotton tomatoes at me, or whatever you'd like. I just felt like I would be at fault if I didn't add in my own two cents here...
One thing about me is that I try hard to respect everyone. I have less of a hard time respecting "complete yeshivish freaks" although I am not one. I appreciate your honesty, but quite frankly, I am too lazy to do change all my words, and I think they express my personality.
As for using strong language as a crutch--I'll throw tomatoes, but only fresh ones :-)
Nah, I'm kidding. That's part of my writing. I don't think my language is TOO offensive, although I completeley understand why it's offensive to some.
i miss the old IMHJO days - I wanna see more posts like these, with the charm, wit, chutzpah, and all the great writing style that have made this a great blog.
